The Study Of Furn El Chebak
Background
In the culmination of my Master’s degree, a comprehensive study was undertaken to analyze and propose sustainable solutions for Furn El Chebak transportation sector, an urban area with unique challenges and opportunities. The project extended its scope to include the university situated within this dynamic urban fabric.
Part A
First we initiated the analysis by examining the area, pinpointing focal points, mapping zones, and identifying the traffic situation along with its components.
Part B
Furthermore, we delved deeper into the analysis by scrutinizing the traffic flow around the University of Fine Arts at various times of the day. Simultaneously, we addressed pedestrian pathways, aiming to identify and rectify existing issues in circulation.
Part C & D
Additionally, to enhance our understanding and gain a broader perspective, we examined multiple transportation examples in Beirut and beyond. This involved identifying challenges and their respective solutions, providing valuable insights to incorporate into our project.
We also conducted a thorough examination of the challenges faced by university staff and students during their commute. This allowed us to gain valuable insights into the specific needs and obstacles encountered in transportation to and from the university.
Part E
In the final phase, we crafted a comprehensive global vision for the project, considering various road types, including the vibrant Souk, the University Road, and the intricate Narrow Roads.
We addressed road directions, strategically placed drop-offs, and convenient station locations.
To enhance the overall experience, we incorporated essential sanitary facilities and devised internal strategies and campaigns, ensuring a holistic and sustainable approach to transportation and infrastructure in the Furn El Chebak area.
