Restoring an Apartment After the Beirut Blast

In the wake of the devastating Beirut blast, I embarked on a challenging yet rewarding mission: the meticulous renovation of an apartment, aiming to restore it to its former glory. The project began with an earnest commitment to take the apartment “back in time.”

My journey started by gathering detailed plans and information, laying the foundation for this ambitious undertaking. With a clear understanding of the apartment’s original design, I meticulously conducted a comprehensive damage assessment. This report served as a roadmap for the entire restoration process.

The next step involved preparing a Bill of Quantities (BOQ), a detailed breakdown of the renovation costs. This was an essential step to ensure transparency and precision in budgeting.

With the groundwork laid, the hands-on work began. From clearing the debris left in the aftermath of the blast to the intricate tasks of fixing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (M.E.P.) elements, the renovation project evolved at every turn. Carpentry, aluminum work, steel installations, and meticulous painting were carried out with precision.

The journey culminated in the final touches that breathed life back into the apartment, from the finest finishing details to the triumphant moment when the apartment was restored to its former self.

This project stands as a testament to resilience and dedication, not only in rebuilding a space but in providing solace and a sense of normalcy after tragedy. It’s a story of transformation, where determination and skill played a crucial role in healing the scars left by the Beirut blast.
